Graduate Certificate in Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineering
UNLV Graduate College approved a new graduate certificate program in
Nov. 2012 in Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineering (NCSE). The
graduate NCSE Certificate program is offered as an academic program
through the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Howard R.
Hughes College of Engineering. Students can receive the UNLV NCSE
Certificate by completing 3 of the 4 NCSE graduate courses (Intro, NCS Engineering, and Monte Carlo Methods) and an approved nuclear engineering elective. These NCSE graduate courses can
also be counted towards a student's MSMNE degree program (some
restrictions apply). Two of the required NCSE courses are being offered
during the fall 2013 semester, both fully on-line, and the third will be offered fully on-line in spring 2014. In addition, an on-line independent study course will be offered this fall and an on-line safety/PRA course will be offered in spring 2014. Please refer to the Mechanical Engineering Long-term Schedule for future offerings of these and other NE courses.
Students who previously completed the ME 795 NCS courses at UNLV during development of the NCS curricula may receive course credits towards the NCSE Certificate.
